I come to this hotel every year with my family to celebrate the holidays and have never ran into any problems. I have seen old faces and new faces and never had a problem but this year there was a new women working and she was the rudest she could of been. She made my family and I feel very unwelcomed in the lobby and we have never felt that way. We weren't being a bother to any of the customers. I believe her name was Jenn. There was also a new man there and his name was Jeremy and he was a sweetheart but other than that everything was wonderful.
We had a great stay at this hotel. Our room had two double beds and was HUGE - like probably three people could do yoga at the same time. Great bathroom and shower. We didn't get to go swimming, but the pool area looked nice too. Check it was easy and friendly and we had a very peaceful stay, even though they seem to be doing some renovations. It was a quick drive (a little over an hour) from Chicago on our way to Michigan so the routing was perfect.
Best Western Plus in Portage was a fun and relaxing stop on our trip. The staff were friendly and super helpful. Check in was quick and convenient and our room was super clean and comfy. They also have great towels here. It's a simple luxury but a one to be taken note of. The pool area is really nice with a spa tub and kids play area with water features as well as a game room. This would be a great hotel for a family stay but was still quiet and very relaxed. Free breakfast was great with hot and cold items. Very convenient to plenty of restaurants and shopping. With for sure be staying here again!
The staff was very helpful and friendly. The room was very clean. The bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfast and the good service from the bar was lovely surprise.
Checked in for an overnight stay over the holidays and I was less than pleased. The staff were less than welcoming on the initial check in, and made it seem an effort just to set up our room. The room itself was nice enough, but had a fan that ran constantly in the bathroom and an average at best wall AC unit. Acceptably clean throughout the room and bathroom as well. Service staff aside from check in were pleasant. Overall it's an alright hotel for $90~, but definitely not a location I'd return to in the future. Maybe with some staff improvements and general renovation it could move to a 4/5 but as is, expect a 3/5 experience all around.
